We met Ann, Anna and Anna's Ayi at the Shanghai Healing Home in Puxi, Shanghai. Tanner had just finished Speech Therapy (he'd gotten surgery 2 weeks ago & got tubes put in, and now he's talkin' up a STORM!!).
When we walked in, Anna's Ayi held her protectively and said "you're late". She wasn't the same pleasant lady I'd met at the other hospital. Her train wasn't due to leave for another 4 hours, and the train station was less than a half hour away.
Ann, the Baobei rep there smiled and explained "She's not too happy with me for having her switch hospitals". When the Ayis come to accompany the babies, they get really nice living conditions compared to what they came from, and they don't love it when they have to move around.
From the moment I met Niu Ayi, I knew she loved Anna. She was sharp, witty, the smartest I'd met. We loved that she was cared for by 'mothering hands'. More on her story later.
Here we are, reeling Anna out of the room, waiting for the elevator.
Beautiful Anna, Anna, Anna.
Here's a picture of Ann with Niu Ayi and Anna. Niu Ayi and I had became fast friends over the last couple of weeks, yet clearly in this pictures was trying to be strong to 'save face'.
Grateful Friday
