Hunter's a little math guy. And I attribute it all to the below game, whatever language you prefer. We have him roll and add the dice and move everyone's markers (see the bottom of this post to know why this is a VERY effective way to teach math).
Anyway, with Hunter doing all the work (he's also the banker), my other two guys get side-tracked.

And here's Tim, true blue. I'd like to say this is what he does when he's not fully engaged in Monopoly... but I'm learning not to take it personal when he's obsessing with this translator over and over during our heart-to-heart conversations. lol.
**OK, let's talk math. Kids learn by doing. Simple. There was a whole section of my Tefl Intl study packet that discussed how language is absorbed by children sooo fast.
Childreen learn the physical response to heard language before they are able to converse.
IE: "Hunter, please come here", at 18 months, perhaps he will already be able to get up and come. Then when he wants someone to come, his body will have already registered the language, over time, his vocals will be able to produce at the same response rate as the rest of his body, and he will say "_________, please come here".
And this is why Monopoly is effective for math. He is doing what he is learning. He is moving spaces according to added numbers on the two dice. Does any of this make sense? It's getting late here in Shanghai... lol.
