1st Day In Australia

***Before I go on with my post... Comment below if you want me to upload this blog design to your blog for February.***
(email me srcalton@yahoo.com-- I'll just need 4 pictures, your blogger address, login and password-- you can change your password later).

I've never had a sunburn in January before, in fact, I've never put on sunscreen in the Winter. You skiers have, but I've never been skiing (except once, I did so bad the guy had to come down from the shack to put me back up on the lift down the mountain. Everyone waiting on the lift kept yelling b/c of the delay, so when I passed them all on the way back, I held up my leg to my chest to pretend like I had a knee injury).

Anyway... It's Summer in Australia. You need to wear sunscreen, especially if you happen to be there for record breaking heat.

Here is a fire breathing dragon this guy sculpted on the beach. He charged for the photo, but I loved him for his effort. His little bucket maybe had a total of $10 in it, but so many people gathered just to stare at this beauty he had created- out of same sand we all had walked over just hours prior.

He inserted one long can (like for vegetables) and inserted coals and lit them on fire for the nose part. He said he sprays down the sculpture with milk lipid to help it keep its shape in the wind. He also said that by law he has to crush every sculpture he makes after a certain amount of time b/c of liabilities ('liabilities', a word I hadn't heard in a long time here in Asia).
Pretty, isn't it?

Our fish.

Tim and Hunter ran in the waves.

Tanner was still afraid of the waves at first. So I built sand castles with him.

-------Warning for all prescription contact wearing viewers.-----
The following picture could be blinding.
Alabaster would be a kind word for those whitie legs of mine.

And I threw sand balls at the waves with Hunter.

Here's Hunter carrying Wanderer before she became Melanie Stryder.

And my little Sand Dude again.

Pelican and sand dude.

Tuff guy and Sand Dude.

I like to think I'm hip sometimes and that I can approach teenagers without reminding them of their mothers. These kind gentlemen let me take a picture before they added a bust to their buried buddy. Thanks guys.

Hunter and Wanderer again. Sorry gals, I happened to be reading "The Host" during the trip. And did any of you find yourself absolutely STARVING when you got to the desert part? Man, I was eating for the whole family during those pages, I figured out the impact of Stephanie Meyer's writing.

Finally, Tanner let Tim hold his hand at the very edge of the water.

I swear these two guys did everything to persuade Tanner to join the 'shirt-less beach club'. We told Tanner that he could earn it by not being afraid of the water.

He started doing good...

And finally, the shirt was off, and he was lovin' the water.

He was feelin' pretty big, being part of the big boys shirt-less-beach-lovin' club.

He kept pulling Daddy back in.

And in return, he gave Daddy some sand scrub back rubs.

Got a little sand in his eyes.

But Daddy fixed it better.

Every once in a while, I like to get the "Stop It Suzanne" picture when Tim thinks I'm getting out of control with the camera.

Oh my word! What a fun post! Australia beaches look great, white sand and blue skies. Love it! My favorite pic the one of Tanner's arm around his daddy's back. So sweet. Glad he decided to start liking the water since he has a fish for a brother! Didn't you just love The Host? She is a great writer. I'd like for her to do more like that. Can't wait to see more pics of your trip Down Under!

Cute pictures. I love the beach, especially with kids. That is so funny about your skiing story. I had a similar one myself, especially about faking a slight injury to avoid the embarrassment of the professional-like skiers. Funny, Funny. I like your blog.

It's almost sickening how good you look in a swim suit after having all those kids... So not fair!

Looks like you are having fun, we are in Georgia and the weather is weird here, so cold today! But some days get so hot I can't do anything.

Enjoy the vacation!
