What I'd Do For Santa Fur

Occasionally, Tim will grab the camera to see what I'd been up to while he'd been at work for the day. This day was the first day where he turned to me with a very concerned face, and said "Suzanne, you need to be more careful where you go!"

It was the first day when the boys were in school, and I met some gals to get Tim's Santa suit made and my friends got tree skirts made. The tree skirts were fun for them, all the fabric was right there before them to choose from. But when it came to the fur cuffs for Tim's Santa get up...

The man at the shop said I'd have to go with him to the warehouse to pick it out. He said it was right around the corner.

The following pictures depict just how "around the corner" can be lost in translation.

Apparently, he needed to do a drop-off while we were there to do a pick-up.

Off we flew, into the sunset. Only in China, it's behind the pollution :).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the pictures I took while on the back of the bike, while repeating over and over "slow down! Slow down!", I'm sure he was only going 5 MPH though.

Down the alley.

Past a pile of fences of some sort.

Past some street vendors.

Selling boots and hats.

Past many-a biker.

This is the point where I realize around the corner is relevant.

More street vendors.

Further down the alley.

Further down the alley.

Through a smaller alley. Check out our shadow, that's how thin the alleys were getting.

Call me sick for taking this picture, go ahead. But the guy to the left is 'relieving' himself. That was a public trough for men to use. Less than one foot away was the enterance to the 'fur' wharehouse.

Here was what was on the other side of the door.

Here's the door, about 2.5 wide, thin wood, with a little lock on it.

Here's the door open.

Me following him in.

Up the stairs.

Further up the stairs.

And finally to the fur.
That'll do little pig. That'll do.

The other rolls of fabric.

Back down the stairs. To the scooter, back to my friends... with the fur in hands.

This is so funny you crazy woman. I think about all the times we hitch hiked though and followed "crazy" people around to get to where we were going.

I love your posts. It sure looks like you guys have been having fun and traveling a lot lately. I loved the beach pictures. I'm going to do a post soon on some mission things and start tagging galore on FB. I've almost got all my pictures scanned in.

Keep posting. Love ya!

Tim is so protective of you! What is he thinking...to get concerned about you taking off on the back of motorcyle in China going who-knows-how-fast to who-knows-where. Talk about over-reacting. Man! And the rest of the story is funny too, huh? The fur ended up making our Santa suits look more like Mr. Grinch than Mr. Claus. No wonder they wanted to charge us so much when they made the suit...they made them for the Jolly Green Giant waiguo ren!

You make me laugh! What were you thinking? I am glad you are safe and sound after that adventure.

Such an adventurer, some things never change. If I knew the language, I'd totally come and stay to join in the fun.

Tim is right, Suzanne! You better be careful, girl! Sometimes I think you are WAY to trusting! What a crazy and wild life you are living -- how fun! But then again, you managed to live a crazy and wild life right here in Castle Rock, why does that not suprise me? Here we're doing recipe club and you are going 90 miles an hour on the back of a motocycle with some stranger all over China! LOL
