Lost in Translation

1. Everything isn't cheap here.
Tim and I had Haugen Daas Ice Cream one night, and forked out $25 US for it. Anything from the US is out of this world expensive. We want to get the boys one of those Little Tykes plastic play structures (with the slide and bridge-- $150 in the US). But it would almost be $1000 US here. But guess where it was probably originally manufactured? Hmmm...

2. We don't have a Nanny.
We do, however have a house keeper that also cooks. We don't need a Nanny, what would I do with myself all day?! China is much to exciting to not take my mini-action-figure boys with me... Side note: LOL, that's what I tell Hunter he is-- A Super Hero. I tell him that's why people here swarm around him in some public places. When he gets uncomfortable I simply say "Be kind Hunter, these guys have never seen Buzz Lightyear before". He replies with an "Oh", and smiles for all the pictures-- posing like he's going to fly "to infinity and beyond". However, when Buzz and Woody are napping, I run errands though while "Holly" (I named our "Ayi" after my sister) is home anyway. She seems to be okay with that.

3. It is not easier to adopt in China.
Depends on where you are in the process. There was one family who started in the US, and then got transferred for a job opportunity. Their wait was increased because of where they were. The Hauge Treaty went into effect on the 1st of April, and luckily back in the states, we'd turned in a certain document, that somehow kept us in the game, and now we can apply-- although I don't turn 30 until August. More on that whole thing later... we're so excited!!

So you wanna be a mommy of 4!!! I hope it all works out for you. I find myself being uber jealous of your life right now :(
If I hadn't just got back from a week in Cancun I'd be more so.
Maybe I'll just have to plan a little holiday and come visit you now that you live in a cool place (unlike Colorado)
Miss you!

So does this mean adoption will be happening soon for you guys? Like within the next year? That's fabulous! That's so cute about Hunter and his Buzz Lightyear appeal. Do little American kids really cause a stir over there? I remember when Taryn was a toddler, Warren and I had a favorite Chinese restaurant we went to almost every week. We got to be on a first name basis with almost everyone who worked there! The ladies always oohed and ahhhed and cooed over Taryn. They'd ask to hold her and play with her the whole time we were there. I always thought it was just cuz Taryn was so dang cute. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's simply a fascination with these blonde-haired, blue-eyed American babies. Keep us posted on the adoption progress. I'm so excited to hear more about it!!

I love picturing everyone swarming the boys and them thinking it is because they are super heroes. You will always tell them that when they are older I am sure. I remember going to Japan when I was 12 or so and with my red hair everone took pictures and stared too. I have a picture of me on a Japanese street. Every single person has black hair but me. It is strange to be so different.

My brother-in-law served in Japan and his hair is blond. His mission companion thought it would be funny and shouted to the people that his hair was gold. They swarmed and started pulling golden locks from his head. (He's bald now). Congrats on the adoption! Loves!!
