Before and After: Library

Here are some pictures of some paintings I'm working on at Hunter's School.

When I painted the pendalin (sp? I'm referring to the swinging gold piece) part slanted to the left, I had to explain over and over that it was intentional. The principal at Hunter's school didn't understand why it was slanted. :)

Here's the clock, and the picture of the world with all the different children of different races. YaoHua (Hunter's Chinese Private School) is trying to make the school more inviting to foreigners.

Hmmm... can anyone find our kids around this globe? I painted Hunter, Tanner, Chinese girls, a Polynesian boy, and a blond girl (and my secret hope to also adopt an African American baby girl one day... shhh... still working on Tim). I also painted some of our friend's kids that go to YaoHua as well.

Because this is the school's Library (they are opening it for public use), why not a big book?! We had a really cool Shakespeare quote about reading books, and even the translation for it (English on one side, Chinese on the other side of the open book)... I totally lost it! Sooo, if any of you know any cool quotes about reading books, do comment!

They wanted to also hang class graduation pictures in this Library so I painted the books to match the size of the 5 framed pictures they currently have. That's Hunter touching the little black Ants.

And around the entire perimeter of the room, there's these tiny little friendly ants. They all lead up to this little message...
Promise to post more pictures of the finished product soon.

When you're done there will you come and paint me a library? That looks fabulous. Good job!

Here's a quote for you. I don't know if it's really a Chinese Proverb but it sounds good.

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket. ~Chinese Proverb

These are wonderful!! You are a handy person to have in a toolbox, girlfriend! Is there nothing you can't do and do well? I can't wait to see these in person and hopefully the girls will have a chance to contribute too. No wonder you are loved wherever you go...you leave a wonderful part of you in your wake! :)

Gees I had no clue that you were an artist - I guess I should have known by all the cool things you make and design that you would also be a painter. I wish I had just a little bit of that talent -- but atlas I guess I will have to continue to admire others' talents. Which is good and a lot less messy :)
